Is this the last week of chocolate with Dorie? So far this month we have Chocolate Amaretti Torte, Chocolate Bread Pudding, and now Chocolate Cream Tart. It was Chosen by Kim of Scrumptious Photography and it was a delicious choice.
As much as I didn’t like the Bread Pudding, I loved this Tart. (You were right, Nancy!!) I followed the recipe, but I did add a touch of almond flavoring instead of the vanilla to the topping. Creamy, rich chocolate. Flaky Chocolate Crust. What’s not to love!!!
I was a little worried about the crust. When I tipped the mix out on the counter to knead slightly, it looked like a pile of dirt. But as Dorie promised, it came together when worked a little and made a great flaky crust.
Thanks, Kim. It was a great choice.
Please visit the other TWDers and see what they did with this tart.
P.S. I tried my last Chocolate Bread Pudding warmed with a drizzle of chocolate ganache. MUCH BETTER!!!!!

The tart looks so pretty and I am very happy that you liked this week’s chocolate pick more than the bread pudding last week.

That’s exactly what I thought.
It looks like dirt.
Oh, but it tastes soooooo good.

Your tart looks GREAT, cookbook photo perfect. Yummy, yummy dirt! 😉

Yup! Just as simple as the almond flavoring must have made a whole lot of difference! Nice touch, Tea Lady! YUMMY!

So glad you liked this one; it would be too sad to have two misses in a row. Your tart looks great! We loved this one was well. My tart dough DID NOT look like a pile of dirt, which is why I am pretty sure I overmixed it. Yours looks just right. Beautiful tart!

Well, looks like I overmixed the crust – mine came out as a ball, we’ll see what that does. Yes, indeed, chocolate overload.

Your tart looks perfect!

Looks delicious! I tried to be patient when I made the crust, so I processed it just a few more seconds and the crumbs turned into a more solid mass that required only a slight bit of kneading. It baked up nicely as well.

Perfect. And yummy, of course.

Looks great! I totally forgot about the chocolate shavings on top. Guess I was in too much of a hurry to eat it!

i didn’t make the chocolate shortbread crust and would have been worried with that pile of “dirt” too! glad it came together so well in the end, though 🙂

I’m happy to know it wasn’t just me with the pile of dirt, I was seriously worried when I first saw it. Yours looks wonderful and I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it.

Love your photo of your chocolate dust! Wasn’t the flavor of this one amazing? I love the way yours looks with that puff of whipped cream on it!

Such a nice tart…love the pictures!

I thought the same thing about the crust, that it looked a bit like potting soil! Your finished product looks great. I’m awful at the decorating and wish I could do a better job of plating.

Your tart looks fantastic! I’m glad this week’s recipe was a hit for you 🙂 I think I actually liked the bread pudding more.

LOL – the crust does look like a pile of dirt just after mixing. Mine was pretty dry but baked up fine – although some people hav elovely moist looking crusts pre-baking. Glad this one was a hit.

Now this looks good enough to eat — 🙂 especially the cut slice. I can almost taste it! A touch of almond is a great idea.

That crust was magic, especially how the taste transformed to perfection once the tart was assembled. Thanks for the shout out (and I thought I’d already commented here before now…)
