Cantaloupe. My favorite fruit ever. When I used to visit my PaPa he would always have three things for me. Twinkies. New Archie comic-book. And Cantaloupe. Always. Without fail. These three things waited for me. Today I still love Twinkies and Canteloupe. Archie Comic books – not so much.
anyway
This week’s FFwD intrigued me. Cantaloupe made into soup. I have had Cantaloupe pie. Cantaloupe smoothie. Cantaloupe with vanilla IC. But cantaloupe soup was never a thought.
This is a cold soup. Cantaloupe. Lime Juice. Ginger. {Dorie calls for White wine, but I am NOT a wine drinker so I just left it out. She DID say it was optional.} Interesting combination. And not bad. I could really taste the ginger. The lime was in the background. Topped with a stawberry. Over all – not bad. Intriguing. But I was the only one to eat it. Good thing since I made just one serving!! Sorry, Dorie, I will stick with my sweet cantaloupe with IC or with Twinkies. But it was interesting.
Please check with the other members of French Fridays with Dorie for their soup.

I think this recipe has had the most ho-hum reception of any recipe in FFwD so far. I liked it, but I won’t make it again.

Sorry, my comment went onto your wrong post…I’ll do it again: (Actually that dis looks great!)
I should not admit it, but when my soup was just looked at and not being eaten except by my grandkids who was the ice cream topping, I gathered them all up, put all back into the blender with more ice cream and more strawberries, and the smoothies were really good and actually prettier. And we could still use the fun dishes.

Oh man, now I want a Twinkie…
I am intrigued by the canteloupe pie.

Cantaloupe pie?! I have never heard of that. Not my fav soup recipe – still thinking of trying it again with some modifications.

I’ve never heard of cantaloupe pie…intrigued! Sorry this soup was not a hit! We enjoyed it with our breakfast this morning. Very refreshing! Yours looks delicious!

Can’t remember the last time I had a twinkie. My soup did not
go over too well, not sure whether it was the flavor or ginger or
lime. It was easy to make, but I prefer the flavor of fresh cold fruit.
Your results do look very refreshing though.

I really liked it, but I think it was because I blended the berries with the melon. I too made only one serving, although I still have a bit of fruit left in case hubby wants to try it later.

Like your presentation in the coffee cup. Someone suggested popsicles. I like that idea.

Your melon balls are just perfect! The soup was fine…but not fabulous enough to make an encore appearance 🙂

Cantaloupe and Twinkies? Interesting. =) B is a girl after your own heart–she loves reading comic books, especially Betty and Veronica.

Great presentation! I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy it more. Your melon balls are absolutely perfect.

Di absolutely stole my words before I could even type them!! I think I’d rather have the soup than twinkies + cantaloupe ;-p

Wow, this is such a great photo of it, you really captured this one so nicely. Sorry it wasn’t a knock you out hit but it sure looks like one! Very pretty.
