Tuesday!! Tuesday!! Tuesday!! Muffins!! Muffins!! Muffins!!
Allspice Crumb Muffins to be exact.
Simple. Sweet. With Struessel on top. The struessel was good. The muffins, if I make them again I will up the spice in the muffins a smidgen. Maybe a little cinnamon? I ended up with 6 Texas Sized muffins – baked 20 minutes. This weeks TWD was chosen by my friend and Twitter baking buddy – Kayte of Grandma’s Kitchen Table . Go visit the rest of the Bakers and see their muffins.
Now that some have set for a day (which is amazing in my house) they are much fuller in flavor. MUCH better!!! I like these.

Looks appetizing, bummer mine are all gone

Those DO look jumbo! I thought they needed a little more spice, too. I went a different direction and made mine in to coffee cake with chocolate chips!
Great looking muffins.

Pretty muffins! And what a good idea to make them Texas-sized! Yum.
October 13, 2009 at 7:15 PM
Ooh, Texas-sized…I would definitely eat one or two! Nice job.

Fantastic to do these as jumbos! Then you can tell yourself “I just ate one!” and not feel guilty. 🙂

I’m glad that you and your muffins got along better after you both had a little time to think things over! We loved these, simple as they are.

Isn’t it funny how stuff tastes better the next day sometimes? Too bad none of ours lastest that long!
Your muffins look great. I love your jumbo muffin liners!

October 13, 2009 at 10:39 PM

It seems like a lot of spiced baked goods really come alive a day later. If they last that long of course.
October 14, 2009 at 1:51 AM
Ooh, better the next day, eh? Guess I know what goes with my coffee tomorrow…Nice work.
October 14, 2009 at 2:55 AM
The muffins look great! I added cinnamon to the topping and it was delicious, I definitely recommend it.
October 14, 2009 at 3:09 AM
The muffins look fantastic Margaret! I love that you made them bigger – I think this would be a great recipe to make in my jumbo muffin pan. More room for extra crumb topping that way 🙂
October 14, 2009 at 3:38 AM
Mine were even better the next day too. Your muffins look fabulous! Isn’t that streusel topping the best?
October 14, 2009 at 4:24 AM
You and Tracey had a good idea about the surface area for the crumb topping. I like that too, and liked the muffins as well. I’ll be testing your theory tomorrow about the tasting better later. I think you’re right even with my modifications. he he

Mine didn’t hang around long enough to try them the next day – which is a good thing!
October 15, 2009 at 12:37 AM
Yummy! They look great! Next time, I will probably try with cinnamon, too.

October 19, 2009 at 7:55 PM
Great muffins, I do think they could have been just a little spicer.
