The Tuesday Bakers have made Rugelach before. Once for the original TWD and once for Baking with Julia. Both times they were good. And both times they were different. This time we made Rugelach and they were different again. This time they were just as tasty. This time they were gone in no time.
The dough contained cream cheese, butter and flour which means it was rich and flaky. The filling was coconut, pecans, chocolate, and cherries. I almost left the cherries out but am glad I followed Dorie’s recipe. So good!! The dough rolled easily but the rugelach was really hard to cut. Sometimes I had Rugelumps!!–
But they were good, too.
The recipe is on page 301 of Dorie’s new Baking Chez Moi
Did the other Doristas have fun with the rugelach? Check them out HERE!!
ANd if you want to join in just read THE RULES and come on! Lots of tasty treats to come.

Now I’m curious about how BWJ tells you to make them. The recipe in BCM is the exact same as Baking… it just calls for a different (somewhat easier!) shape. Heading over to your posts now to see the variations! I loved these and will definitely be miking them again now I have figured out the pastry!

Yes, these were gone in no time flat. I made half a batch as I knew they would be way too tempting, and I put chocolate in most of them (you knew I’d skip that part on some, right? lol). Yours look so good and I think I should have had some with tea…next time!

I figured you would leave the chocolate out. But I know M likes it, so….. a compromise.

They were tasty, weren’t they, regardless of shape!

Rugelumps made me lol. I had a few of those too but the determination was made that they made good midnight snack/taste tests.

Yes, the lumps were just as good and didn’t have to wait to have their picture taken!!

Rugelumps look tasty! Thank heavens for silicone baking mats and parchment paper to make the cleanup easier.
